About the Author

The Career Key test is based on John Holland’s theory of career choice, the most widely known and used by career counselors and educators today. Navigate in this ebook or to websites on the Internet, with the click of your mouse, and learn how to use this theory to identify promising careers those in which you are most likely to be satisfied and successful. There are four sections:

  1. Summary of Holland’s Theory. “Birds of the same feather flock together,” will have new meaning for you. You will learn that there is truth to this idea when you think about the careers people choose. This section clearly and simply describes Holland’s theory. Your Career Key scores will take on new meaning. 2 pgs.

  2. Holland’s Six Personality Types. Here you will learn the characteristics of the six personality types-- Realisitic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional -- their interests, abilities, values, and self-view. 1 pg.

  3. Holland’s Six Environment Types. Each of the six work environments is described with examples of occupations characteristic of each type. 3 pgs.

  4. Holland’s Theory and You. Here it is all tied together . . . the theory’s strengths, limitations, and how you can use it effectively in making your career decisions. 2 pgs. The pages are laid out so that educators, counselors, and consultants can easily print the sections most useful to them.
